Clean Scrape Belt Cleaner Reduces Need for Manual Clean up

A coal mine factory in China is experiencing problems with the return of material on its conveyor belt. The system transported hundreds of tons of coal slag, which was transported on a 48-inch wide (1200mm) conveyor belt at a speed of 300fpm (1.524 m/s), from the mine to the surface facility. The outdoor portion of the belt, although covered, was also exposed to extreme weather. Material adhered to the return side of the belt, accumulated around the main machine, and made the rollers sticky, requiring downtime for maintenance and raising the cost of operation.

Bai-ott Engineering showed the managers the latest innovation in belt cleaning technology,the”ZJCLEAN-PU Primary Scraper.” Technicians simply installed and fixed the primary cleaner according to the instuctions on the conveyor frame, and the cleaner’s polyurethane scraper was tightly pressed against the belt to maintain a certain pressure, but it was still effective in removing adhered material. Suitable for vulcanized splices at belt speeds up to 1500fpm(8m/s) and mechanical splices at 800fpm(4m/s), the cleaner glides over the splice with a light touch and safely while effectively removing material and reducing carryover.

After installing the ZJCLEAN-PU Belt Cleaner on the conveyor system and immediately seeing measurable results, the operator immediately installed the cleaner on other three  conveyors and ordered eight replacement polyurethane blades. A company supervisor said, "We are very satisfied. This is the best belt cleaner we have ever used, especially the reduction in material carryback." Operators say the RIT Belt Cleaner has reduced the labor required for cleanup and increased system efficiency, and they expect it to last longer than their previous cleaner.
